Topic 2
Why is it important?
Playing social or semi-professional sports is a great way to make friends and stay fit. However, with any form of physical activity, there is always a risk of injury, no matter if you’re playing contact or non-contact sport.
Understanding how to identify and manage injuries can improve recovery time and reduce the risk of long-term injury.
First Aid is essential because:
- More than 60,000 people are hospitalised for sports injuries each year
- Men twice as likely to be hospitalised as women
- Less than 10% of people with a sporting activity injury go to the hospital
